Innovative financing by development finance institutions under the EU Global Gateway

With the support of BMZ, the Shamba Centre for Food & Climate is conducting an expert consultation and an evidence review of how Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) are innovating in using their capital more efficiently. The consultation will begin in January 2026, and results will be published in September 2026. Find out more about this project.
An inaugural meeting will introduce the project and share preliminary examples on how DFIs are innovating in their investments in high-risk countries in the food and agriculture sector. The meeting will also outline next steps for deepening engagement with DFIs to better understand their ongoing innovation under the EU Global Gateway. The meeting is hosted by the European Commission, Directorate-General for International Partnerships.
